MakeMyLure - blank static-ballast physical-check records Version: 1; prepared November 2, 2026 SCOPE AND FILES This is a blank record pack, not measured data or a validation result. It covers dry assembly mass and repeated still-water observations of a printed, sealed lure. It does not cover swimming, retrieve depth, strength or catches. 1. specimen-template.csv: one vertical sheet per physical specimen. Make a copy for each specimen and fill only the value column (notes may be extended). Its section/field/unit/notes cells describe the form; they are not observations. Keep the same specimen_id in the repeat log. 2. trials-template.csv: a header-only log. Add one row for each actual trial. Do not add a row until a trial has been performed. Open the CSVs locally in a spreadsheet as UTF-8, with comma delimiters. There are no formulas or default measured values. Empty means not provided or not measured, never zero. Use notes to distinguish unknown from not applicable. Enter a numerical zero only after measuring that quantity and recording the instrument and method. These files are not studio imports; editing them does not upload the entered values to MakeMyLure. BEFORE WATER TESTING - Keep the exact design JSON, application/source version, model-output file, print export and slicer project used. Save later revisions as new versions. - Record actual printer/process, material, layer/wall/infill settings, hardware, ballast, glue and physical paint/clear coat. A digital paint appearance is not a measurement of the cured finish. - Use the model's as-built estimate for the same assembly boundary. Changing a ballast ball or pocket can also rebuild internal seats/supports, so total mass changes need not equal the ball-mass change. - Weigh dry printed parts, a dry hardware/ballast mock-up, the cured sealed assembly before finish, and the fully cured finished dry lure. Describe the parts included at every stage. These are successive TOTALS: do not add stage totals or separately counted glue/finish to a finished total. - Record the scale, its displayed resolution, tare/zero method and any reference check. Resolution does not establish accuracy. Keep raw readings. - Plan the still-water waiting/immersion periods, repetitions and drying method before looking at the results. There is no universal pass threshold in this pack. Repeated observations of one specimen do not test variation between separately manufactured specimens. LOG EACH REAL STILL-WATER TRIAL - Use a unique trial_id and the specimen_id from the specimen sheet. Record the actual date/time/timezone and repeat number, including unsuccessful trials. Do not invent missing repetitions. - Record the water type/condition, temperature and density with its basis (measured, documented estimate or unknown). Blank density stays unknown. Log any line, support, trapped surface bubbles or container contact; these can change the observation. A supported lure is not a free-float result. - Record the dry pre-immersion mass, actual settling wait and immersion duration. If a repeat has not returned to a comparable fully dry state, leave pre_immersion_dry_mass_g blank and describe that condition in notes; do not relabel a wet baseline as dry or compute its dry-to-wet mass change. Describe floating/sinking and rest attitude after the wait. Do not infer a precise pitch angle without a documented measurement method. - Record visible leaks/bubbles or other observations without forcing a pass/fail label. After removal, record how surface water was removed and the delay before the surface-dried weighing. Use comparable methods and avoid squeezing liquid out of the specimen. If later fully redried, record that mass separately; do not relabel a surface-dried mass as fully dry. - Retain photographs/video and raw weighing notes. Put local filenames or record references in the log; no upload is required. Do not publish private design files or identifying details just to use this blank pack. COMPARISONS AND THEIR LIMITS Mass difference, in g: delta_mass = measured finished fully cured dry mass - predicted as-built mass A positive value means the actual complete dry specimen is heavier. Compare only the same assembly/material/version boundary. Report repeat readings and scale limitations; a mismatch of parts is not a clean model-error estimate. Optional relative mass difference: 100 * delta_mass / measured finished fully cured dry mass Use only when the measured reference mass is known and positive. State the signed definition or use its absolute value explicitly. This is a mass comparison, not a probability of success or an overall simulator accuracy. Do not calculate it from missing/zero reference values. Immersion mass change, in g: delta_immersion_mass = post-immersion surface-dried mass - pre-immersion dry mass This is a leak/uptake clue, not proof. Remaining exterior water, material absorption, unfinished cure, removed parts and scale error can confound it. A near-zero difference does not prove that the lure is leak-free. Model-predicted fully submerged buoyancy, in g-equivalent: water_density_kg_m3 * modelled_volume_mL / 1000 - predicted_as_built_mass_g Positive means an upward fully submerged force; negative means downward. For units only, 998 kg/m^3 equals 0.998 g/mL. This is NOT a supplied water condition for any specimen. Replacing the mass with a measured value while retaining modelled volume still produces a partly model-based estimate; it does not measure actual displaced volume or net buoyancy independently. A lure resting at the surface displaces only its immersed portion. Its free-float observation does not independently verify the model's fully submerged displacement or a precise buoyancy margin. This pack contains no independent displacement/force measurement and no general pass/fail limits. Do not apply the literature benchmark's normalized-error threshold to these records or call a few matching float observations a validated accuracy rate. If these measurements are used for calibration, reserve other, unused specimens/measurements for a later independent check.
